Meet the Agents of Change

Dr. Fran Pirozzolo
Dr. Fran Pirozzolo is the President of Competitive Advantage, a consulting company specializing individual and team performance enhancement. Fran is affiliated with the Shadow Hawk Golf Club in Houston, Texas and is on the teaching staff of the Jim McLean Golf Schools.

Dr. Pirozzolo was the team psychologist and performance enhancement coach of The World Champion New York Yankees. (1996-2001) and has worked for the Houston Astros Baseball Club (1988-1995), and the Texas Rangers Baseball Club and has been a consultant to numerous world-class professional athletes such as Evender Holyfield, Justin Leonard, and Roger Clemens.

Dr. Pirozzolo has been a consultant to numerous collegiate athletic departments, including the University of Notre Dame, the University of Texas, the University of Oklahoma and the University of Houston. Dr. Pirozzolo has been a psychologist, consultant, friend and confidant to many top touring professionals.

Dr. Pirozzolo has published 14 books and over 250 scientific and popular articles. His most recent golf books include "The Game I Love" (Random House) with golf legend Sam Snead, "The Putter's Pocket Companion" (Harper Collins) with teacher Jim McLean and "The Mental Pocket Companion" (Harper Collins). Fran collaborated with McLean on a Golf Channel production of "Sam Snead: A Swing for A Lifetime" and has done a video with the legendary Byron Nelson. Fran has collaborated on a book on leadership entitled "Multiple Intelligences and Leadership" (with scholars Ron Riggio and Susan Murphy).

Dr. Pirozzolo holds degrees from the University of Chicago and the University of Rochester. His academic credentials include professorships at UCLA, The University of Minnesota, and Baylor College of Medicine; serving as Chief of the Neuropsychology Service at Baylor for fifteen years. Dr. Pirozzolo also is a Visiting Scholar with Kravis Leadership Institute at Claremont-McKenna College and has received numerous awards for research and community service. Dr. Pirozzolo was appointed to the prestigious National Academy of Science's Committee on Techniques to Enhance Human Performance. He has also studied the individual and team performance of astronaut crews at NASA's Johnson Space Center.


Dr. Brina Ayala Rubin
Brina Ayala Rubin holds an Education Doctorate in Child and Youth Studies from Nova University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, having achieved her undergraduate degree in Psychology and French from Brooklyn College and her graduate degree in Medical Technology in Cytology from the University of Missouri.

Dr. Rubin's passion for teaching students of all ages is demonstrated by her wide ranging knowledge of subjects and her having taught at all levels of education. Dr. Rubin holds credential in Gifted Endorsement, English for Speakers of Other Languages, and FCAT Reading Strategies, just to name a few. She is certified in Reading, French and Spanish as well as experienced in teaching all student-capability levels, from "hard-to-learn" to "gifted" students.

In the academic circles in Broward and Palm Beach Counties, Florida, Dr. Rubin is known for her driving commitment to excellence. In 1997, she was nominated for the Presidential Math and Science Award and won the Red Schoolhouse Award for Excellence.

Dr. Blair Whitmarsh
Dr. Blair Whitmarsh holds a PhD in Sport Psychology from the University of Alberta and is a member of the Canadian Mental Training Registry. He is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He has been able to combine his experiences as an athlete, coach and researcher while giving lectures and conducting workshops/coaching clinics in the areas of mental preparation for sport and peak performance.

Since enteringthe field of sport psychology 15 years ago, Blair has consulted with numerous provincial, national, and international athletes from the sports of hockey, baseball, volleyball, swimming, gymnastics, track and field, ringette, and dance. Currently, he is serving as the sport psychology consultant for the Canadian National Ringette team, the Trinity Western University Sports Program (volleyball, basketball, and soccer), and provides mental training for a number of elite and professional hockey players.

Whitmarsh is consulted by many bodybuilders and strength trainers looking to enhance their training and performance. He is a regular contributor to the popular magazine, Muscle and Fitness, and his articles appear in many other related publications. He is also a frequent presenter at conferences, often speaking about the psychological aspects of strength training and bodybuilding.

Dr. Robert K.Winters
Dr. Robert K. Winters is a nationally renowned sport psychologist and author who has over twenty-five years of professional experience in golf education, coaching, and psychology. Dr. Winters is the co-author of the book, "The Mental Art of Putting: Using Your Mind to Putt Your Best!" and the co-author of two audio-cassettes, "Great Putting ?
